In Brazil, woodblock artists carve designs onto wood and then use ink to print the art onto paper or other surfaces. These woodblock prints often serve as artwork for books or poetry. In this workshop, learn the art of woodblock printing and create your own bookplate! We use linoleum blocks in place of wood to make carving easier and suitable for both kids and adults. This workshop complements the Bandits & Heroes, Poets & Saints exhibit, so we encourage all attendees and visitors to also check out the exhibit to see some woodblock prints by Brazilian artists. Made possible through NEH on the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
